Although most people are talking about the awesome Final Fantasy 7 Remake right now, it’s not the only Final Fantasy title on the way. In fact, Square Enix revealed the Final Fantasy 8 Remaster during its presentation at E3 2019.
As they commented, its launch is scheduled for some time in 2019. That’s right, this year, which means we won’t have to wait as long as we think.
Before getting too excited, it is worth considering the differences between a remaster and a remake.
Final Fantasy 7 is a remake: in addition to improving graphics, developers add new systems and improvements to bring the game online with modern games. Final Fantasy 8 is a remaster, which brings improvements to graphics, textures, and performance with minimal changes in quality of life.
Those who have not played Final Fantasy 8 recently may not immediately notice the visual update shown in the reveal trailer, but that is where Twitter users come on the scene – as usual, they are very interested, even doing comparisons putting one delivery next to the other.
The advantage of the remaster angle is that it takes much less time to complete it, which allows the game to go on sale this year. Square Enix has not announced exactly when it will go on sale in 2019, but the company has confirmed that it will be available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam once it appears.
